Ogden Museum Wedding w. Vintage, Rustic Charm with Lovegood Wedding & Event Rentals

Meet Becky and Michael! Today we are bringing you their wedding day at the Ogden Museum that was on Leap Day 2020. (This spot reminds we so much of Harry Potter every time we do an event there.) Check out the vendor info below and their love story! Becky was kind enough to do a Q&A with us, and some of their details will melt your heart.

Lovegood Collection : Parker Tables, Classic Round Pedestal Tables, Mismatched Chairs,

Malibu Highboys, Malibu Stools, and Martha Rug

Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new? If so, do tell!

My something old and blue was a light blue sapphire ring that my grandmother had left me. The funny thing about this ring was that she gave it to me when I was quite young (maybe ten years old), and I thought that it was simply costume jewelry because the size of the jewel was rather over the top. When my wedding neared, I asked my mom to find it in my childhood bedroom, so I could wear it, and turns out the ring was far from costume jewelry but instead a real sapphire. It's now a treasured part of my jewelry collection!

Favorite detail of the wedding was:

Second favorite detail was my bouquet. My mother made it, and it was beyond perfection! I could not stop staring at it.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?

It had to be our first look! I was so excited and nervous to see Michael and walking down the stairs towards him, my heart was racing. When he turned around and I was able to hug him, I was shaking, and then instantly calm. It's the peace he brings me always that makes me know he was the right one for me.

When did y’all get married?

We got married on leap day, Saturday, February 29, 2020!

What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony?

We did not do any readings, but we did have our officiant lead a traditional hand-fasting ceremony. Part of my heritage lies in Sweden and my husband's is Irish, and this is a traditional aspect of weddings in both cultures. We had all four of our parents place the four cords blessing our marriage to make sure they were incorporated in the ceremony.

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story.

Michael is from Louisiana and I had been living in New Orleans since college, so almost 8 years, when we met in the most cliché way imaginable. We literally met on Bourbon Street, getting daiquiris after Krewe de Vieux. I remember leaving the daiquiri shop with my friends and seeing him across the street and that was it!

Describe your favorite wedding detail.

It is so hard to narrow down my favorite detail, but it has to be my tables! My husband made all of the rustic flower troughs by hand, my mother did all the flowers, and then, with the stunning Lovegood tables, perfectly completed the vision I had - rustic meets romantic!

What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding?

Hire a wedding planner. Michelle and her team at Michelle Norwood Events made it so easy the days leading up and especially the day of - I was so relaxed!

What’s next for you as a couple? What memories are you looking forward to making together?

We cancelled our honeymoon because Covid-19 shut down travel only a few weeks post the wedding, but we are doing a stateside honeymoon in Alaska to see the Northern Lights in October and could not be more excited!

Tell us all about the proposal!

We planned a long weekend in San Antonio to get away and lo and behold it was Fiesta - essentially the Mardi Gras equivalent, i.e. partying in the street, beautiful flowers crowns, and lots of fun! We were down on the riverwalk and he asked a family to take a photo of us. I had my flower crown on and was cheesing hard for the camera and, boom he was down on one knee. He was so nervous, all he said was "will you?" and I was crying and obviously said yes. The family took a video, so I have video proof that he never actually asked me more than those two words. :)

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them.

Moondance was our first dance - I wanted something classic, but upbeat and a little sexy

Somewhere Over the Rainbow for when we walked down the aisle - I have always loved this song

You Are the Best Thing for the father-daughter dance
