This might be one of the best Il Mercato weddings we have done to date. When Kelly from Kelly Draws reached out for her colorful wedding at Il Mercato, we were pumped! We had been mutual friends on Instagram for some time, and it is always special do us when other creatives want Lovegood to be a part of their special events!
Kelly wanted color, and we love how our blue inspired lounge space came to life for this beautiful spring wedding at Il Mercato!
Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new? If so, do tell!
Blue was one of our wedding colors: the ribbons on my bouquet, our invitation suite I designed, our lounge furniture, amongst other things. I borrowed my Baba's old earrings for the wedding day and new was my wedding dress!
Favorite detail of the wedding was:
Our invitation suite was a labor of love! I was in awe of how pretty our cake looked once it was topped with colorful blooms and our olivewood cake topper. Also we got SO many compliments on how neat our lounge was in front of the fireplace- people could get away from the loud music and relax if they needed to.
Describe your wedding flowers.
I wanted our flowers to be loose and unstructured, very organic and super colorful, so naturally Antigua Floral came to mind and Sara absolutely knocked it out of the park. When I saw my bouquet for the first time, it literally took my breath away.
Tell us all about the proposal! Dane made dinner reservations for us at Mosca's (be still my heart) and we made plans to get drinks at our go-to bar in Algiers, Old Point Bar. We brought our drinks up on the levee to "our" bench and watched the ships go by. After the Natchez rolled past, he got down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful custom sapphire ring. After lots of happy tears, we went home, where our parents were waiting to surprise us with champagne and dessert.

What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Pick a photographer you LOVE, don't forget to eat, don't forget to drink water in between the cocktails, and don't forget to have a good time!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I don't have one favorite moment, but tearing up the dance floor with my husband is high up on the list. I can't recommend the Phunky Monkeys enough. Best wedding band ever.
What’s next for you as a couple? What memories are you looking forward to making together? We're looking forward to going on adventures and traveling together, which started with Honeymoon Part One in the Dominican Republic immediately after the wedding and Honeymoon Part Two will be in Canada in July!
